Nancy E. Schena

Schena , Nancy E. (Caputo), of Quincy, formerly of North Reading, passed away at Marina Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, August 19, 2010. She was 87 years young. Born and raised in the North End of Boston, she lived in North Reading for 53 years. Nan was a creative and talented seamstress. She taught sewing for many years in the North Reading Adult Education program and during that time, she also sewed costumes for many North Reading High School drama productions. With her special talents in tailoring, she generously and lovingly made wedding dresses for many family and friends. Nan was the cherished wife of Tony Schena for 65 years. She was also the loving mother of Ron Schena and his wife Rachael, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Marilyn Fitzsimmons and her husband Bill, of Atlanta, Georgia. She was the devoted grandmother of Eric Schena, Riyanon Keep, and Laurel Fitzsimmons, as well as the proud great grandmother of Jaxon and Laila Keep. She was the beloved sister of Lillian DiPaolo, Sam Caputo and his wife Marie, Celia Eastman, Jeanne White, and Pat Caputo (deceased). Nan is also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, in-laws, neighbors and friends too numerous to mention. Family and friends will honor and remember Nan’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy, on Sunday, August 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, North Quincy on Monday, August 23 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
