Nancy E. Macdonald

Nancy E. MacDonald, Age 57, of Quincy, MA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and dear friends.

Nancy found joy through fitness and loved to wake up early for long runs. She found her love for running during her school years on the track team and carried that forward throughout her life, completing hundreds of races, including several marathons. She ran the Boston Marathon multiple times. Her passion for fitness did not end with running. She participated in multiple Century Rides, Relay Races and Sprint Triathlons, many of which were fundraisers for causes she believed in. She will certainly be remembered as one of the best aerobic and spin class instructors in the area, teaching at more than five fitness centers – in addition to her full-time job. The fitness world brought Nancy countless meaningful relationships. Most recently, Nancy enjoyed taking boxing classes and participating in other fun activities at 110 Fitness. Through their supportive community, she was able to continue her love for fitness as she courageously battled Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

Nancy’s family and friends were the most important part of her life. She loved spending time with her mother, Carol, and enjoyed getting mani-pedis with her regularly. She was proud of her daughter, Tessa and treasured the time she spent watching her play sports, perform on stage, graduate from college, and grow into the young woman she is today. Voted “Class Partier” by her senior class, it is no surprise that Nancy loved live music, dancing, dinner or drinks outside and any other fun event involving her family and friends. She never missed her annual summer trip to Ogunquit, ME where she found peace on the beach.

Nancy was a considerate person with a sweet tooth. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies that she would bring to social gatherings or deliver to your doorstep on your birthday or special occasion. She was incredibly loving, hardworking, and loyal. It was hard to not like Nancy. Although she struggled with PSP over the past several years, she fought it with everything she had – and never complained. A true inspiration and example for all of us.

Nancy is the beloved daughter of Carol (Webber), of Rockland and the late John MacDonald. Devoted mother of Tessa Schneider, of Weymouth. Loving sister of Jack MacDonald and his wife, Leslie of Plymouth, David MacDonald and his wife, Cherish of Plymouth, Christine MacDonald and her partner, Tom Briody of Quincy, Michael MacDonald and his wife, Sharon of Plymouth and the late Gregory MacDonald. She is the dear aunt of Kendall Ewell and her fiance’, Ryan Cushing and their son, Ryan “Bubs” of Plymouth, Zoe Mirabito and her husband, Andrew of Quincy, Madison, Gabrielle, John, Marin, and Ava MacDonald, all of Plymouth. Step-grandmother of David and Shyanne Schneider of Plymouth, and Riley and Brady Mulhern of Naples, FL. Nancy will be forever missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

A private burial ceremony will be held at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.

All who knew and loved Nancy are welcome to attend her Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 11:30 AM-2:30 PM at Granite Links Pavilion, Quincy, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Nancy’s name to Cure PSP or 110 Fitness Fight Back Gala.
