Our beloved Meme, Nancy Carolyn (Wilczek) Ahlstrom, left us suddenly on September 3rd 2024. She was 82 years old. Nancy was born in Pawtucket RI on June 30th 1942 to Carl and Hila (Robinson) Wilczek. She spent her childhood playing with her best friend Helen (Marceau) McDonald and trying to play ball with the local boys. Nancy loved Roy Rogers and even had an outfit with a real knife that she would practice throwing. She really wanted to be a cowboy.
Nancy met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Ahlstrom, at Mosley’s on the Charles in Dedham MA where she and Helen would go on Saturday nights after spending the day with curlers in their hair. Nancy and Bob wed on May 30th 1964 and were together until the untimely passing of Bob in 2006. They had two daughters, Judy Violette (Ahlstrom) and Terri Heaton (Ahlstrom), that they devoted their lives to. Nancy was a homemaker who was always there for her daughters. She was the first person both of them called, especially when they were first on their own and had to cook and do laundry themselves. She was devoted to them and their interest in sports. She and Bob coached both of them in basketball and then attended all of their sports events no matter where they were. Nancy and Bob were always about family and were excited to extend the family to include Judy’s husband, Brian Violette, and Terri’s husband, Jeffrey Heaton. Nancy and Bob loved both Brian and Jeff as if they were their own sons. Brian and Jeff helped fill the void that was left when Bob passed away by being a spiritual adviser, or helping around the house or making her laugh.
Nancy had three grandchildren, Caleb, Sarah, and Hannah Violette who she loved dearly. She was always bragging on her grandchildren. Nancy worked at the school where they attended until 8th grade and was able to see them every day which delighted her. She loved spending time with them and watching their plays at school. Nancy was also excited that her grandson, Caleb, met a godly woman, Shelby Edgell, to marry. We will all remember her text messages the day after the wedding which became the day before she died where she asked for wedding pictures and videos since she was unable to attend in person.
Nancy also enjoyed her Sundays with her friend Joyce. They would “watch“ football, but spent most of the time just talking and enjoying each other’s company. Nancy will be greatly missed by her family and all of her friends but we know she is in heaven with Jesus Christ, her Savior, and reunited with her husband Bob again. We take comfort knowing she is no longer in pain either physically or emotionally.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held on September 14th at 10:30 a.m. at Central Congregational Church, 2 Webster Street, Middleboro MA.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Central Congregational Church (https://centralcongo.org/) who helps the local community by providing a food pantry and home improvements for people in need.
