PAULA M. (CHRISTIAN) LEINBERGS “Molly”, 63, of North Weymouth, MA, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, to be reunited with her beloved family members, all of whom predeceased her.
She was born February 24, 1955, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the fourth of five children of the late William E. and Kathryn F. (Mullen) Christian. She was preceded in death by her brothers Richard P. and W. Peter Christian, her younger sister Barbara M. Christian, her older sister Judith A. “Jude” Stigelman, and her nephew Gregory Christian. She is survived by her loving brother-in-law William H. (Bill) Stigelman, Jr., Gregory’s widow Kristen (Harvey) Christian and their three children, Thomas, Jenna and Julia, her niece Amy (Christian) Thomas and her family, her brother-in-law Kurt J. Stigelman, her niece Olivia E. Stigelman, many beloved cousins and countless friends.
Molly graduated from Weymouth High School and began her wonderful adventure of a life. After several years working as a hostess and server in local restaurants and pubs, she moved to Nantucket, where she became the wine expert extraordinaire at “The Islander,” a premier package store owned by her good friend Paula Driscoll, from August of 1989 to July, 2009. One of her favorite memories was a wine-tasting and buying trip she and Ms. Driscoll made throughout Tuscany in 2001, including an Easter season visit to the Vatican. While on Nantucket, she met Edgars Leinbergs, a finish carpenter of fine homes, who worked with his cousin, Arvids Leinbergs. Edgars and Molly fell in love and were married on August 18, 1989, in a beautiful seaside wedding where she and Jude, her Matron of Honor, arrived by small seaplane! Molly and Edgars enjoyed 23 years together before his death in June, 2012. During her years on Nantucket, Molly was a friend to all, was recognized and hailed everywhere, and earned her nickname as the “Mayor of Nantucket.” She and Edgars hosted family members and friends to countless wonderful getaways at their home in Miacomet, enjoying the fruits of the sea, the vine, and their welcoming company.
After Edgars’ death, Molly returned to her “home base” of North Weymouth and reconnected with many of her friends and family living there and nearby. The joys of those years included times spent with her niece Kristen and her family, her cousin Nancy, and her many other cousins and friends. Throughout her life, from her very early days, Molly was an outgoing, effervescent and supportive friend and helpmate. She was a joy to know, and her family and friends treasured her as the precious gift she was to them. Molly loved her husband, her family, her friends and her pets, all without reservation. She truly had a wonderful life, and her friends and family can take comfort in knowing she had no regrets.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation to celebrate her life on Sunday 11 AM – 1 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).
