Peters, Mildred L," Mimi ", (Coughlin) age 86 of Quincy, MA and most recently Wakefield, MA. passed away on April 10th, 2025, after a courageous battle with Dementia. The beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Peters, and cherished mother of Kelly Broderick-Peck and her husband Lawrence Peck of Andover, MA and Thomas Broderick and his wife Ann of Scituate, MA.
Sister of Francis Coughlin and his wife Rose of Bakersfield, CA, Philip Coughlin of Kingston, MA, and Michael Coughlin and his wife Clare of Newton, MA. Dear sister in law to John Peters of Sandwich,MA, and Louis and Linda Peters of Naples, FL.
Mimi was the devoted Nana to Brittany Kavanagh and her husband Jason of Greenfield, NH, Stephen Peck of Andover, MA, Justin Broderick of Kona HI, Mia Broderick of South Boston,MA and Gregory Broderick of Scituate,MA.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was one of sixty first cousins.
Mimi was born on February 12th ,1939 in Boston,MA to her late parents Francis and Gilda Coughlin. She graduated from Jeremiah E.Burke High School in Dorchester, MA and eventually, at the age of forty, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts. Mimi worked her entire career with law firms devoted to providing legal services to the community's most vulnerable people. She was a legal secretary at Greater Boston Legal Services and eventually worked the remainder of her career at Massachusetts Law Reform in Boston, as an office manager.
Mimi and her husband Bill settled in Quincy, MA . They resided there for forty seven years as they developed long lasting friendships with their neighbors.
She was an expert at planning multiple trips to Europe, Mexico and the Dominican. She also visited many countries by river cruising. Her favorite and most visited country was Italy and specifically Sicily.
Mimi always wore a smile, as she was outgoing, warm and friendly. It wasn't unusual for her to meet people on her vacations and end up establishing a friendship through the love of travel. She enjoyed all things Boston and attended the theater, museums, boat rides to the Boston Harbor Islands, Italian festivals in the North End and taking strolls around Castle Island in South Boston. Mimi always lived life to the fullest as she had the most adventurous spirit. During the last three and a half years, she lived as a resident of Brightview Senior Living in Wakefield, MA.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care Mimi received from all the staff at Brightview. They made Mimi's last years memorable and showered her with love. In addition we would like to thank Brighton Hospice for their exemplary care and support given not only to Mimi, but her family during this difficult time
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visitation on Tuesday, April 22, from 11-1 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, followed by a funeral service on Tuesday at 1 PM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Donations in memory of Mimi may be made to Greater Boston Food Bank, 70 South Bay Avenue, Boston,MA 02118.
