Mildred “Millie” Navratil

Navratil, Mildred E. (Dunkel) “Millie” of Quincy, passed away on April 27, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Jerome Navratil. Loving mother of Judith Zigmund of White Sulphur Springs, NY and Elise Kline and her husband Jim of Scituate. Grandma of Teri, Beth & Sean Zigmund and Dan & Nadia Kline. Great Grandmother of Logan and Tess Moscatelli. Millie was born and raised in Manhattan on East 88th Street in the apartment owned by her parents, first-generation German immigrants. Millie attended Hunter College to pursue a degree in Language. She went on to work as a data controller for New York & Cornell Medical Center for many years. Having lost her husband at a young age, Millie’s work ethic grew stronger. She was dedicated to doing her job to the best of her ability, and in her spare time found great enjoyment in traveling. She traveled with her daughters all over the world, to China, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Ireland. Mexico and Alaska to mention a few. In addition to traveling, Millie loved Broadway and everything about. it, the dancing most of all. She generously treated her family to a Broadway show every year and was responsible for many happy memories there. She was devoted to her family and they were the foundation of all that was truly important to her. In her later years, she remained independent even though she had lost her sight to macular degeneration. Millie will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 3-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. For those who wish to attend the service, we will gather at the Funeral Home on Saturday morning at 9:30am. Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 11am in Mt. Auburn’s Bigelow Chapel, 580 Mt. Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA. Donations in memory of Millie may be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation, P. O. Box 531313, Henderson, Nevada 89053.
