Michael Scott Renken

Michael Scott Renken of Quincy, died after a brief illness on May 29, 2021, he was 29. The beloved son of  Roxane (Rowe) Renken of North Quincy and  Paul Renken of Swanzey, NH. Loving brother of Erin Kathleen Renken of Iowa City, Iowa. Grandson of Catherine Rowe of FL and the late Raymond Rowe and Barbara Renken of Swanzey NH and the late Clifford Renken. Michael is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished friends. He also leaves behind his beloved cat Jim Beam.

Michael was a 2010 graduate of North Quincy High School. There, he was active in Choir and Drama Club. He also participated in the summer theater program Raise the Curtain, which sealed his love of performing.  Michael performed under the names of Porcha Lynn and Ephie Nephrine on the stages of Jacques’ Cabaret, Machine, Paradise Cafe and Fran’s Place. Michael used his talents to perform for college charities in support of  LGBTQ+ equality. He was also interviewed for The Boston Globe’s It Gets Better series.  Michael loved to read, music of all types, dancing, singing and doing karaoke, He had a flair for the dramatics, loving doing makeup and hair. Also, among Michael’s qualities was his ability to listen and advise his friends. Michael will be deeply missed. The world has lost a shining star whose light was dimmed too soon.    

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday, June 6 from  1-4PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
