Druther, Michael S. of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2022, at the age of 81.
Michael was born in Pennsylvania but spent his childhood in Wyckoff, New Jersey. He was the son of Henry Druther and Mildred Jover Druther. Michael’s brothers George, John and Joseph predeceased him.
Michael served honorably in the United Stated Navy from 1958 through 1962.
Michael relocated to Massachusetts in 1968 and while he embraced his new home state, he remained a dedicated New York sports fan with particular devotion to the New York Giants and the New York Mets. Nothing made him happier than engaging in some good-natured trash talk with his Massachusetts friends and family. Needless to say, he was insufferable after the 2008 and 2012 Super Bowls when his beloved Giants beat the New England Patriots. Michael loved golf, playing softball, his vintage Cadillacs and was known for driving many a hard bargain at neighborhood yard sales. He was also a very devoted “dog-dad” to Reggie, Mugsy and Mitsy who predeceased him and Missy who survives him.
Michael will be missed by many and leaves behind his beloved wife of 29 years, Clare Druther (née Golden), his daughter Carole Nagobads and her partner Randy, of Halifax, his son Michael Druther and his partner Regina, of Weymouth, his stepdaughter Linda Cummings and her husband Peter, of Andover, his stepson Tom Nutting and his wife Kristen, of Plymouth and his stepdaughter Kristin Houston, of Plymouth, as well as ten grandchildren, Mikala Houston, Ben Nutting, Matthew Cummings, Ryan Nagobads, Abigale Nutting, Olivia Cummings, Nattallia Druther, Christopher, Colleen and Bobby Cummings and two great-grandchildren Logan and Dylan Cummings.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Lakeview Cemetery, Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
