Michael P. Jackson, of Needham, “Originally From Dorchester”, formerly of Holbrook and Quincy, died peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Briarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Needham. He was 70.
Michael was born in Boston on August 7, 1953, and was the son of the late Dorothy (Jackson) Raftery. He was raised in Boston and attended local schools.
Michael’s career was in food service. He was a chef for many years and worked at many fine establishments in Boston including the Bull and Finch Pub “Cheers” restaurant where he eventually worked his way upstairs to the Hampshire House restaurant where they named two menu items after Michael’s two daughters.
Known for his love of all things Boston sports and classic rock which he passed on to all of his children. He also enjoyed living life to the fullest with trips to amusement parks, Bruins and Red Sox games as well as concerts. He also enjoyed his many trips up to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia with his family over the years.
Michael was the devoted father of Maria VanAmringe and her husband Roger of Rochester, Michaela Stuart and her husband Russell of Walpole and the late Glenn Jackson. He was the former husband of Vera Jackson of Abington. He was the loving grandfather of Anthony and Thomas Jackson, both of Middleboro, Lauren Dowd of Rochester and Liam and Anya Stuart, both of Walpole. Michael is also survived by many loving extended family members and friends.
Services will be private.
