Tompkins, Michael J. of Hingham, passed June 14, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Mike adored his family, especially being “Pup” and “Papa” to his grandchildren. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved Fenway Park and used to attend every Friday game with his close friend Dave Murphy. He loved to travel all over the world, being on the beach, and long walks at World’s End. He owned a house in West Falmouth and enjoyed going to Old Silver Beach with his family and friends. Mike graduated from North Quincy High School class of ‘62 and attended the Franklin Institute. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for 3 years. He owned Tompkins Electrical in Hingham, which is now run by his son. Mike was a well liked and respected member of the community. He had a funny wit, was strong willed, and was caring to those around him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Beloved husband of 50 years to Ann (Verna) Tompkins of Hingham. Cherished father of Michael J. Tompkins II of Weymouth, Lynn Fahie and her husband Anthony of Hingham, Amy Tompkins of Hingham, and Kimberly Tompkins Cummings of Hull. Father in law of Joseph Cummings of Hanover. Loving brother of Agnes Proude and her husband John of Wollaston, Margaret “Peggy” Tompkins of NYC, Paul Tompkins and his wife Lou of Randolph/Falmouth, and the late Olive Morin, John J. Tompkins Jr., Mary Panasiuk, and Peter Tompkins. Devoted “Pup” and “Papa” of Justin and Alex Fahie and Paige Tompkins.
