Michael J. Maggio

Michael J. Maggio, a long time resident of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024 at South Shore Hospital. He was 86 years old, a month shy of his 87th birthday.

Born in Boston, growing up in East Boston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Grace Maggio (Siracusa). As a young boy, he worked tirelessly along side his father at their well-known meat market, Central Market, in East Boston. After high school, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, later attended dental technician school, but decided a more lucrative living would be in the automobile business.

In 1966, he married his wife, Lorraine, and they moved to Weymouth to start a family. Their children were always their priority, and Mike worked so hard through the years allowing his wife to be home with them. He worked in car sales for almost 60 years as a well-known, well-respected top salesperson in the industry, spending many of those years working for his dear friend, Daniel J. Quirk.

In retirement, Mike and his wife spent many winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL where they made so many wonderful memories. Sadly, 16 years ago he lost Lorraine who he missed so dearly. In 2020, Mike moved into assisted living for an easier life, and to live closer to his daughter, Melissa, who cared for him daily. His 3 grandsons brought him the most joy of all, who he lovingly referred to as “the boys.”

Mike will be remembered by his generosity, but above all his incredible  sense of humor and quick-wit, always making people laugh.

Beloved husband of the late Lorraine Maggio (DeYeso). Loving father of Anthony Maggio and his wife Jacqueline of Port Orange FL and  Melissa Grimaldi and her husband Rick of Whitman. Adoring grandfather of Christian, Brandon and Julian Grimaldi. Cherished brother of Richard Maggio of Marshfield, Patricia Ciampa of Saugus and the late Anthony Maggio. Mike will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 2/20 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So.
