Michael J. Heavey

Heavey, Michael J. of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, passed away July 29, 2016. 

Beloved husband of 58 years to Mary A. (Curran).  Loving father of Martin J. and his wife Deanna of West Bridgewater, Michael P. and his wife Maureen of Mansfield, and Mary Ellen Ryan and her husband James of Stratham, NH.  Devoted grandfather of Martin, Kelleen, Martha, Cathryn, Patrick and Elizabeth Heavey and James, Molly and Matt Ryan.  Brother of the late Patrick, Malachy, Martin Heavey, and Mary Finneran; all of Ireland, Thomas Heavey of Brookline and Ellen O’Brien of Arlington.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Mike was born in Athlone, Co. Roscommon, Ireland, he emigrated to Boston in 1956. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local #223. He was an avid Bruins fan, enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.  For the past five years, he has been a devout husband visiting his wife Mary on a daily basis. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.  Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
