Hawkes, Michael J. of So. Boston, formerly of Weymouth and Murrells Inlet, SC, died suddenly on November 20, 2016.
Family was the most important part of Michael’s life. He adored his wife Ann and daughter Ashley. His “grand puppies “Duggan and Emma” brought him great joy. Michael grew up in So. Boston and maintained many of his childhood friendships. He always tried to do the right thing at the right time for the right reason and lived by the motto “Do Your Job”. He worked at General Dynamics Shipyard for almost 20 years. He spent many years as a corporate chauffeur, first as a business owner of Hawkes Limousine and retiring from Putnam Investments in 2012. He loved his Boston teams and could be found watching the New England Patriot’s at the Surfside Beach Moose Lodge with his friend “Bud”. He most enjoyed days lazing by the pool or on the beach and spending time with family & friends. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, Southie pride, his fierce loyalty to friends and family, his passion for life & love.
Beloved husband of Ann (Duggan) Hawkes of Murrells Inlet, SC. Devoted father of Ashley Hawkes and her fiance Andrew Juska of Atlanta, GA. Son of the late John and Ethel Hawkes. Loving brother of John Hawkes and his wife Joanne of So. Boston. Dear cousin of Joan Barnes, Richard Travers, and William Hocking; all of Quincy and Dana, Ronald and Donna Zaccardi. Son-in-law of Mary Duggan and the Late John Patrick Duggan of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and numerous friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.
Donations in memory of Michael may be made to Jewish Family & Children’s Service, 1430 Main St., Waltham, MA 02451.
