Michael G. “Mike” Krall, a long-time Hingham resident, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Seasons Hospice in Milton. He was 89.
Born in Windber, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Sekela) Krall. Mike attended local schools and graduated from the Windber High School with the Class of 1946. After high school, Mike joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War, and he earned the G.I. of the year award in 1951. Mike was honorably discharged on October 12, 1951. Following his honorable discharge, Mike married Dorothy (Molloy) and together the two began their family with love and devotion.
Mike was a restauranteur. His restaurant, Ye Olde Mill Grille was opened in 1960, downtown Hingham. He was dedicated to his community and enjoyed working in the food industry. Mike happily retired in 2000, after 40 years of service to the Hingham community.
In Mike’s spare time, he enjoyed playing golf at the South Shore Country Club, where he was a member for over 20 years. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, both salt and fresh water. Mike liked to keep active and was a long-time member of the Weymouth Elks and Sons of Italy. He also was a great supporter of the Veterans Administration and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. He was honored to be a benefactor to many charitable organizations and wanted to help make a difference in the world.
Mike’s family gave him his most enjoyment in life. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. Mike was a loving, honest and loyal man, who will be missed greatly by all the lives he touched.
Mike was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Molloy) Krall, who passed away in 2005. The two shared many loving years of marriage and were each others best friends. He was the devoted father of William F. Krall and his wife Linda of Weymouth, Thomas F. Krall and his wife Carol of Scituate, Timothy J. Krall of Hingham, and the late Michael T. Krall and his late wife Susan. Mike was the loving grandfather of Haley Krall Call of Michigan, Michael T. Krall and Gretchen C. Krall, both of Scituate and the loving great grandfather of Stella Rose, Dominic and Bentley, all of Michigan. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his seven siblings.
