Michael D. Panaro, Sr.

Michael D. Panaro, Sr. passed away on January 10, 2022, after a hard-fought illness. He was 80 years old.

Born in Boston, Mike grew up in Quincy and graduated from North Quincy High School in 1959. He attended Boston College and upon graduation in 1963 he embarked on a career in Physics. In 1972, he shifted his focus to the burgeoning field of Computer Science. He launched his own consulting firm in 1984 and later added an on-line book business which he successfully ran until his illness.

A life-long learner with diverse interests, Mike was a true Renaissance man and a conversation with him never failed to inspire you to learn more. A competitive athlete into his mid 70’s, he continued to exercise daily until end of his life. Mike enjoyed gathering with family and close friends for good food and drink, rowdy conversation, and even louder singing. He was a loyal friend, a loving parent, and doting grandparent. As a husband, he was amazed at his luck in finding the perfect wife twice in his life. Mike was truly one of a kind and will be dearly missed by those who loved him. As a friend remarked upon learning of his passing “They don’t make men like him anymore”.

Beloved husband of Judith A. (Dowling) Panaro of Quincy and the late Marilyn R. (Forrest) Panaro.

Revered father of Michael D. Panaro, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Dedham; John E.F. Panaro and his wife Sherri of Derry, NH; Mark D. Taylor and his wife Kim of Quincy; and Lance B. Taylor of Weymouth.

Treasured “Nonno” to his grandchildren Mark, Kevin, Julianne, Anthony, Vincent, and Charles.

He was “Mickey” to siblings Kenneth W. Panaro of Quincy; Susan C. Barry of Daytona Beach, FL; Dorothy A. Panaro of Plymouth Meeting, PA; Joni-Marie O’Keefe of Scituate; and late Louise Doucette.

Cherished son of the Late Michael J. and Louise W. (Hadfield) Panaro.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

We are grateful to the VNA for the care Mike received during his illness. Special thanks to Dr. Jessica Small for her amazing support.

There will be no services per Mike’s wishes. If you want to remember him, he would rather that you have a party or donate to a charity of your choice.
