Michael B. Butler

Michael B. Butler of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on May 7th, 2024 at the AccentCare Inpatient Hospice Center in Milton. He was 65 years old.

Born to the late John and Elizabeth (Gunville) Butler, Michael was raised in Uxbridge, where he attended St. Mary’s High School until its closure, later graduating from Uxbridge High School. Following graduation, Michael enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a Hospital Corpsman and Medical In-flight Specialist.
Michael’s career in healthcare began as a phlebotomist at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Norfolk, where he met his life partner, Michelle, who worked as a case worker. Subsequently, Michael pursued further education, earning his certification as a Registered Nurse through Laboure College. He dedicated 20 years to his calling as a hospice visiting nurse, offering compassionate care and solace to patients and families during their final days.

In addition to his professional commitments, Michael cherished his role as a husband and father. He loved spending time with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. His contagious laughter filled every room with warmth, inviting others to share in his joy. Michael also had a passion for music, particularly the Grateful Dead, and enjoyed attending concerts and sharing his love for music with others.

Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was the beloved husband of Michelle (Hanafin) Butler for 35 years and loving father of Jeremy and Meaghan. He is also survived by numerous relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness, humor, and unwavering love.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 4-8 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Friday.
