Michael B. “Bernie” Corliss

 Michael B. “Bernie” Corliss of Quincy, died October 23, 2016.  The beloved husband of 64 years to the late Rosanna M (Doherty) Corliss. Loving father of  Michael B. “Barney” Corliss, Jr. of Quincy, John J. Corliss and his wife Mal of Natick, James P. Corliss  and Peggy Corliss both of Quincy CDR Paul Corliss, USN (Ret.) San Diego, CA. Cherished brother of Margaert “Peg” Rooney and her husband Fred of South Boston and the late Josephine O’Connor, Theresa O’Toole and John Corliss. Devoted Papa to CPT Meaghan Balser,USAF and her husband Cary, Colleen Corliss, Dr. Bethany Corliss-DaRocha and her husband Richardo and Joseph Corliss. Great Grandfather  of Camilla, James, Catherine and Sean Balser and Gabriele and Lucas DaRocha. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he adored. 

Bernie had a strong work ethic, he was employed at Swift Instruments located in Dorchester for more than 60 years retiring at the age of 83. A proud W.W.II U.S. Navy veteran, he thoroughly enjoyed telling sea stories of his time in the Navy. He also enjoyed using his iPad to stay in touch with his family and really enjoyed face timing to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The cornerstone of his life was his family, they were all that was truly important to him. He will be remembered as a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. Another one lost from the “Greatest Generation.” He will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have known him.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.

Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory Bernie may be made to Friends of Fatima E.C. Week at Camp Fatima, 32 Fatima Road, Gilmanton, NH 03837.
