Michael A. Raftery

Raftery, Michael A. of Quincy, died December 19, 2013.

Beloved husband of Kathleen (Kiely) Raftery of Quincy.  Devoted son of Lita J. Raftery of Quincy and the late Andrew Raftery.  Loving father of David Raftery and his wife Lisa of Wayland, Bryan Raftery of Quincy, Katherine “Katey” Raftery and her fiancee Matthew Currie of Quincy and Meaghan Kaplan her husband Chad of Quincy.  Brother of Paul J. Raftery and his wife Trisha of Florida and Donna Hopkins and her husband Glen of South Carolina.  Cherished grandfather of Abigail and Audrey Raftery of Wayland and Maya Currie of Quincy.

Michael was born and educated in Boston.  He was a graduate of Boston English High School and attended Boston State College.  He worked  as a computer technician for over 35 years before retiring in 2003.  After retirement  from the computer industry Michael spent his time volunteering for the Salvation Army Adult Day Health program or donating his time to his community.  Michael is remembered by his family as a vibrant man with a zest for life.  He enjoyed gardening, plants and fixing computers.  Most of all Michael loved his family who were the cornerstone of his life.  He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at a later date.
