Michael A. Gorman, Sr. of Hull, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, surrounded by family. He was 86.
Born in Boston to the late Evelyn Anna and William Duncan Gorman. Michael was raised in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High. He was on the legendary 1953 championship team. After High School, he went on to join the National Guard and was station at Fort Bliss on the Nike Site in El Paso, TX. Michael later went on to become a Dry Wall Contractor, operating his own business and a Security Guard at South Shore Hospital.
He was a boy scout and always enjoyed the outdoors. Michael was a history buff and if you ever heard one of his impromptu history lessons, he truly made you feel as if you were there. He also loved watching football and war movies. Out of all of the things Michael loved to do, spending time with his family was at the top of the list.
Michael is predeceased by his soulmate, and wife of 49 years, Barbara Ann Gorman, and his siblings: William Gorman, Jack Gorman, Lorraine Lopez, Daniel S. Gorman and Robert J Gorman. And survived by Rosalie Leary, Diana Hunt and Charles Joseph Gorman.
Loving father of Michael Gorman, Jr. and Linda of Hull, Dennis Gorman and Joni of Weymouth, James Gorman and Tom Harvey Walters of St. Augustine, FL, and Kathleen Wermuth and Stephen of Maryville, TN. Cherished grandpa to 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, October 11 from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
