Oxner, Merrill C. “Sonny” of North Falmouth December 16, 2008. Beloved husband of 52 years of Joan “Pat” P. (Moran) Oxner of North Falmouth. Loving father of Paul C. “Sonny” Oxner & wife Lorraine of Marshfield, Anne Marie Oxner-Dixon & husband Bill of Duxbury, Susan P. Kruse & husband Bob of Sagamore Beach and David M. Oxner, MA State Trooper & wife Mary of Pembroke. Cherished Grampa of Kyle, William, Kirstyn, David, Stephen and Olivia. Merrill lived in Quincy for over 30 years before moving to Falmouth in 1994. Mr. Oxner served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict between 1950-1954 and was a B-25, B-36 radio operator who was involved in combat and rescue along the Yalu river. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for many years. Merrill enjoyed history, fishing and playing and watching golf. He was an avid New England sports fan. He was a member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus and the John P. McKeon Post. Merrill’s main passion was his family. Spending time with his nieces, nephews and grandchildren gave him the most enjoyment in his life. He will be truly missed. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, No Falmouth, Monday at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours in Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Sunday 1- 4 PM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Merrill may be made to the McCarthy Care Center 73 Service Road Sandwich, MA 02563.
