Melia “Amy” Bithoney

Bithoney, Melia M. “Amelia” “Amy” “Red” (Asack) of Weymouth, Hingham and Brockton entered into eternal life on May 31, 2015.

Born and raised in Brockton.  Daughter of Thomas Asack and Mary (Nader) Asack both born in Lebanon.

Melia earned her nickname as “Red” because of her fiery red hair that she loved to have coiffed.  She had a strong devotion to St. Theresa. Melia was married in St. Theresa in 1950 and was a member of The Ladies Society at St. Theresa.  After working in the bell shops in Brockton with her longtime friends Charles and Ruth Fortier she became a hairdresser working at Frasiers following her fathers footsteps as a barber.  Amy came to Hingham in the 60’s opening her own salon Miss Amy’s.  One of her great accomplishments was refurbishing the Old Sweaterville building with her impeccable carpenter, relocating her new salon.  She loved her work and enjoyed her camaraderie with “her ladies”, working over 50 years hairdressing in Hingham.  In the 70’s she bought summer cottage in Rexhame Beach, Marshfield.  She enjoyed entertaining and cooking.  Member and President of the Hingham Woman’s Club, she continued her love for cooking.  Amy had fun vacationing in Newport Cancun Mexico and Cocoa Beach, Florida. In 2002 she went to Lebanon to visit her roots.

Amy (Sithie, grandmother in Lebanese) was devoted to her family and cherished her granddaughters Brenda and Amanda and her boyfriend Roberto and great granddaughter Alexis.  Wife of Thomas A. Bithoney. Devoted mother of Thomas J. Bithoney and Annette Bithoney and her fiancé Joe Arena.  She leaves behind her brother George Asack.  Predeceased by her siblings Ann Bohin, Sadie Cariglio, Peter and Shirley.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews and very close friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass  on Wednesday at 11AM in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth.
