May M. (Lussier) Mahony

May M. (Lussier) Mahony, of Squantum and formerly of Marshfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 3, 2019.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Wilfrid and Letitia (Hartmann) Lussier. May attended local schools and graduated from the Boston Girls Trade High School with the Class of 1951. Following high school, May continued her education at Burdett College.

May was a hairstylist and worked at the Key to Beauty Salon in East Milton and later at Larry’s Hair Salon in Duxbury. In her second career, May served lovingly as a home health professional on the South Shore. She enjoyed being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. May also enjoyed playing cards, cooking, traveling and time socializing with friends. May and her husband Frank enjoyed time at their homes on Cape Cod and in New Hampshire. She had a wonderful sense of humor and knew how to tell a great story. May was a proud Democrat and enjoyed politics. In the 1960’s she was a poll worker and an avid Kennedy supporter. May was happiest when she was with her family, friends and her schnauzers, Heidi and Addie.

May’s kindness, selflessness, humor and loving demeanor are her legacy. Her life lessons and morals continue through her family and friends. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.

May was the beloved wife of Francis X. “Frank” Mahony. The two married in 1952 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Jamaica Plain. Together the two shared 67 loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Susan Bell and her husband Bill of Cohasset and the loving grandmother of Andrew Bell of Cohasset and Colin Bell of East Boston. May is also survived by loving many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Wilfrid and Clifford Lussier, Audrey Filiponi and Alexina Dabrowski.
