Maureen A. Casey

Maureen A. Casey passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the age of 76. She died of complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease. She had been a resident of the Southeast Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in North Easton, Massachusetts since March 2021. Maureen leaves behind her close friend, Michael Burns, and a host of relatives, both old and young, who Maureen has cared for and inspired for decades in Massachusetts and beyond. Her sister, Kathy, formerly an operating room nurse, died 4 years ago in Sacramento, California from the same disease.

Maureen spent most of her early school life in Jamaica Plain and went to a Catholic school. She also learned to play the piano and participated in school musical programs. Her early career was in financial institutions, and she spent several years working for South Shore Bank as an accountant and auditor. She lived in and around Weymouth, Massachusetts, and had many friends throughout the South Shore. However, in her forties Maureen decided to pursue her lifelong dream to become a nurse, and she obtained her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) from Quincy Junior College. In the early 1990’s, Maureen moved to Abington, Massachusetts and started a long and successful career at Milton Health Care, which ended about 10 years ago.

Maureen enjoyed hiking and spending time outdoors and was interested in nature and birds. She was an unapologetically crazed fan of Elvis. Her positive outlook on life, empathy, compassion, and love of children made an indelible impression on all who met her. Maureen’s faith in and generosity toward others will be sadly missed.
