Mullen, Matthew J. of Quincy died August 29, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Margaret A. (Flynn) Mullen. Devoted father of Teresa and her husband William Glover of Pembroke, Dianne Murphy of Brockton, Regina Mullen of Tampa, FL, Margaret Sinkiewicz of St. Petersburg, FL, Virginia Mullen of New York City, Matthew Mullen and his wife Linda of Braintree and the late Christine Mullen. Cherished grandfather of Brian and Niall Murphy, Christine Sinkiewicz, Colleen, Rachel, Jacob, and Matthew Mullen. Loving brother of the late Joseph Cottier, James, John, and Thomas Mullen. Matt was lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Matt grew up in Charlestown and resided in Quincy for over 60 years. He was a firefighter for the City of Quincy for over 35 years, retiring in the early 1980’s. He was a former officer of the Firefighter’s Union and a director of the Quincy Credit Union. Matt also worked at St. Ann’s Church and School for over 30 years. He was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, the Knights of Columbus, the Old School Boys of Charlestown, the BoSox Club, and the CCC’s during the depression. Matt also volunteered at St. Francis House in Boston. Matt spent many winters in Florida and attended Spring Training games for the Red Sox. He was also a world traveler, visiting such places as Africa, China, Bosnia and all over Europe. Matt will be surely missed by all those who knew him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Tuesday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Monday 4 – 8 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Matthew J. Mullen may be made to St. Francis House, 39 Boylston St., Boston, MA 02116.
