Hurley, Matthew D. of Quincy, passed away September 11, 2015 at the age of 45.
Beloved son of William and Elizabeth (Anderson) Hurley of Braintree, formerly of Quincy. Cherished brother of Alison McDonough (John) of Foxboro. Devoted uncle to Eamon William and Mary Elizabeth McDonough of Foxboro. Also mourned by uncles Ed Anderson (Diane) of Hull, Bill Anderson (Renee) of Florida, Frank Hurley of Quincy, Gerald Hurley of Concord, John Hurley (Judy) of Norwell, and aunts Helen Forbes of South Easton and Kay Hurley of Marshfield and many cousins and devoted friends.
Matt was a 1988 graduate of North Quincy High School and Suffolk University class of 1995. A published author, Matt wrote about boxing, winning 4 awards from the Boxing Writers Association of America. He was the author of Ringside Reflections. He was a voting member of the Boxing Hall of Fame. His first work of fiction – The Final Cut – is due to be published in late September. We are devastated at the loss of such a kind and gentle man.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. An hour prior visitation will be at 10 AM on Thursday followed by a funeral home service at 11 AM.
