Mathew N. Gerakis

Gerakis, Mathew N. of Quincy, died suddenly on October 16, 2015. 

Mathew loved his family and had an especially close relationship with his older brother Michael.  His world revolved around sports, academics, and family.  A 2015 graduate of North Quincy High School, Mathew was a senior Co-Captain of the Boys Varsity Basketball program.  He also enjoyed the Boston Celtics and New England Patriots.  Mathew also excelled in the classroom and was a curious student who was always looking to increase his knowledge.  He was currently enrolled at UMASS Boston as a freshman.  The subjects of math and science were of particular interest and he spoke of one day becoming a biochemist, so that he could help find cures for the many diseases people are afflicted with.  He was always trying to help people and that will be his life’s legacy. 

Beloved son of Malgorzata “Gosia” Gerakis of Quincy and John N. Gerakis of Quincy.  Loving brother of Michael Gerakis of Quincy.  Also survived by his cherished grandmother, uncle, and many close friends. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, October 30th from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM Saturday, October 31st prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM.  Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
