Mathew J. McDonald, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died Monday, April 1, 2019. at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 59.

Born in Quincy, he was the son of the late George A. and Margaret M. (Tanguay) McDonald and attended local schools. Following high school, Mathew became  a mechanic in the automotive industry. He started his own business, Air Cooled Auto of Hingham. Mathew had a fruitful career and enjoyed the friendships he made throughout the years. Mathew was known by all who knew him, to be the hardest working man there is. He worked as long as his health permitted.

In his spare time, Mathew loved spending time with his family. He was a proud father and papa. When he wasn’t with his family, you could find him watching NASCAR, playing darts, spending time with his friends at Sully’s in Quincy and watching Judge Judy, Family Feud and MASH.

Mathew was selfless, loyal, honest and loving. He would do anything for the people in his life. His legacy continues through his children and grandchildren and he will be missed by all the lives he touched.

Mathew was the beloved companion of Linda M. Quinn of Quincy, with whom he shared many loving years. He was the devoted father of Heather McDonald of Quincy, John M. McDonald and his fiancee Nicole Lynch of Quincy, Meaghan E. McDonald of Mansfield and Erica L. Kintscher and her husband Chris of NJ. Mathew was the loving grandfather of Shawn Colby, Kylie and Hadley McDonald, Felipe Quinones III, Anthony, Christian and Jaxson Kintscher. He was the dear brother of Mary Miller of Hingham, Jean Reeves and Theresa McDonald, both of Quincy, Sandy McDonald of Weymouth and Jack McDonald of Quincy. Mathew is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, April 5th from 4 PM through 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday, April 6th prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.

Interment in private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in Mathew’s name to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
