Maryrose A. (Sullivan) Mirick, 63, of Weymouth, passed away after a long illness, June 5, 2016.
Born in Quincy, Maryrose was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1971, Aquinas College with a degree in Fashion Technology and Business Science College, Quincy College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and University of Massachusetts, Boston, graduating with a Vocation Teaching Certification. She taught in the Quincy Public Schools and tutored in the Holbrook Public Schools for many years. Maryrose was an activist as she was former Director of Development for the Cerebral Palsy of Massachusetts, a Broker for Paramount Partners and Mirick Real Estate, Court Clerk Assistant in the Quincy District Court, Designer at Trose Treasures, Spokesperson for the American Heart Association “Go Red Campaign”, Past President of the Ambassador Group of the So. Shore Chamber of Commerce, Paul Ferris Fellow of the Quincy Rotary Club, former Board Member of the American Red Cross, Former Board Member of the Quincy Business Association, former Board Member and Founder of the Quincy Medical Center Cancer Walk, and former Member and Volunteer of the National Kidney Foundation Fundraising Committee.
Beloved wife of Wayne Mirick of Weymouth. Loving mother of Andrea Rose Mirick and Jacquelyn Patricia (Mirick) Neary and her wife Kathryn all of Weymouth. Cherished grandmother of Juliahna Rose Pruitt. Daughter of the late John J. and Mary C. (Flynn) Sullivan, Sr. Dear sister of Daniel Sullivan and his wife Madolyn, David Sullivan and his wife Sandra, Claire Ball and her husband Charles, Barbara Arnold and her husband Edward, Patricia Sullivan and her husband Richard DeCristofaro and the late John Sullivan, Jr. Also survived by sister in law Eleanor Sullivan. Maryrose will be lovingly and forever be missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and all who knew and loved her.
There was nothing Maryrose enjoyed more than spending time with her family and friends. Vacations in Ossipee, NH, Cape Cod and Windham, ME were cherished times. Maryrose was a strong advocate for organ donation as she was the recipient of a kidney transplant from her sister, Patricia in 1982. Maryrose had a magnetic personality and her love for life never faltered. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 pm in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM.
A special care acknowledgment to Tufts Medical Center and the South Shore Visting Nurses and Hospice of the South Shore.
