With heavy hearts and profound love, we celebrate the extraordinary life of Mary Teresa Welch, who passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Faulkner Hospital. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mary was a shining example of faith, resilience, and elegance.
Born on October 14, 1943, to Thomas Foley and Bridget Quinn in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Mary was raised in the warm embrace of her Irish Catholic roots. She attended Saint Augustine's School, where her lifelong devotion to her faith was nurtured. She lived her life inspired by the Cursillo movement, embodying its principles of love and service.
On May 10th 1969, Mary married the love of her life, Timothy Welch. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising two daughters, Margaret and the late Christine Welch. The strength Mary displayed in the face of profound loss defined her character, and she found solace in her cherished Pieta prayer group, forming bonds of love and healing that carried her and others through their grief.
Mary was a dedicated professional, building a long and rewarding career at Boston Edison. Known for her quick wit, warm smile, and impeccable style, she was a natural leader and friend who made every colleague feel valued.
Beyond her career, Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She shared a deep bond with her twin sister, Helen Foley Bousquet, and carried treasured memories of her siblings Anna and Jackie. Her grandson, Timothy McDonough, was a bright light in her later years, bringing her endless pride and happiness.
Mary’s presence was magnetic; her friendships spanned decades and countless circles, as she left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Whether hosting a gathering or simply sharing a story, she exuded grace, humor, and a deep love for life.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Timothy Welch; her daughter, Margaret Welch McDonough; her grandson, Timothy McDonough; her twin sister, Helen Foley Bousquet; and a legacy of love and faith that will live on in all who knew her.
