Mary E. Tose, a longtime Weymouth resident, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the age of 67. Born in Boston on December 9, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Connolly.
Mary was the beloved wife of Jonathan Tose and the heart and soul of their family. She was the loving mom of Jennifer Tose of Canton, Kimberly Anderson and her husband Matt of Whitman, and Stephanie Mejia and her husband Adan of Abington. She was a dear sister of Diane Johnston and her husband Kurt of California, Patricia Bauer of New York, and David Connolly of Weymouth, and she held the memory of her late brother, Dr. Robert T. Connolly Jr.
To her grandchildren—Matthew, Emma, and Rafael—Mary was “NeeNee,” and there was no one more excited to play, laugh, and be part of their adventures. Whether it was hopping on a swing, going down a slide, or racing in the yard, she was always right there, full of energy and love. Her playful spirit, big hugs, and silly sense of humor made her the kind of grandmother every kid dreams of.
Mary graduated from Weymouth North High School and earned her Associate’s degree from Holliston Junior College. She went on to build a remarkable career as a Veterinary Technician, working over 37 years at VCA of Weymouth. Mary was more than just great at her job—she was a true expert. She was often invited by other local animal hospitals to share her expertise on pain management, surgical procedures, and anesthesia, and she was always happy to share her knowledge. Her coworkers admired her, and pet owners trusted her deeply.
When she wasn’t working, Mary loved to run and was a proud member of the South Shore Striders. She also had a lifelong love of music—always ready to dance, even long after her diagnosis. No matter what life brought, she faced it with grace, humor, and a good playlist.
Mary’s circle of love extended far and wide, including many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her fiercely but carry her spirit with them always.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4–7 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home in South Weymouth (809 Main Street, across from South Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 4, at 10:15 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth, at 11 AM.
In honor of Mary, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
