Mary Sheila Murray

Mary Sheila (Doyle) Murray passed on April 2, 2016 after a long illness. She was 87. She was the daughter of the late David and Mary (Cummings) Doyle. Mary grew up and attended school in Quincy and moved to North Weymouth in 1973. She is survived by her son Kevin Murray and a brother, Gregory Doyle of Quincy as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Anne George and two brothers, David and Daniel Doyle.

Mary was a parishioner of St Jerome Church and had been retired from the former New England Telephone Company where she had been employed for forty years. She enjoyed national and international travel, as well as bowling, reading Harlequin romance novels and bargain shopping. In her younger days she was very active in ceramics with her mother and created many beautiful pieces which her family still treasures. She was an active participant of the Weymouth Choral Group that sang at area nursing homes, bringing joy and recreation to the residents. Mary also belonged to the Bell Tel retirees and the Pioneers, TOPS, The Whipple Center and the Weymouth Newcomers Club.

Mary was affectionately known as “Aunt Sheila” to all of her many nieces and nephews who fondly recall her generosity at Christmas which rivaled Santa and earned her the nickname of Mrs Claus.

Her son Kevin wishes to sincerely thank the nursing staff at Care One At Weymouth for all of the care which she received during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the: Catholic Bishop of Northern Alaska; 1312 Peger Rd;  Fairbanks, Alaska 99709-5199.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 5-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).
