Johnston, Mary R. of Wollaston May 5, 2003. Daughter of the late Thomas J. and Hanna M. (Clifford) Johnston, both of County Kerry, Ireland. Loving sister of Jane Lochrie of Dorchester, Margaret Mucci of Quincy, Nora Hayes of Wollaston, Joan Pasquinelli of Wollaston and the late Dorothy Connolly, Thomas and John Johnston. Also lovingly survived by 36 nieces & nephews and 64 great nieces & nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Mary died after a brief illness. She was born in Boston and lived in So. Boston until she moved to Quincy in 1956. Mary was a graduate of the Carney Hospital School of Nursing in Boston and received her Masters in Education from Boston College in 1954. She was a WWII veteran, serving in the European and Pacific Theaters as First Lieutenant in the US Army Nursing Corps. After the war, she worked as a staff nurse at Murphy General Hospital and later the VA Hospital in West Roxbury. She later worked for the MA Dept. of Public Health as the Asst. Director of Patient Care for the state of MA until her retirement. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to St. Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock St., Wollaston, MA 02170.
