Murphy, Mary (Joyce) of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, July 2, 2003. Wife of the late Patrick D. Murphy. Loving mother of Patrick S. Murphy of Dedham and Douglas J. Murphy of Abington. Sister of Eileen Rogerson and Peggy Shea both of Quincy. Mary is also survived by many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. , WOLLASTON Monday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in Star of the Sea Church, Squantum at 9 AM.Visiting hours Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Mary had a deep love for her Irish heritage. She grew up in South Boston and never forgot her roots. She was actively involved with many of the POW-MIA groups. Mary had a strong devotion to the Veterans who fought for our freedom. She was well known for telling it like it was, she never was one to sugar-coat a story. Mary enjoyed bingo and was a “very social person.” She enjoyed her family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Veterans Homeless Shelter, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108.
