Mary M. Gillis

Gillis, Mary M.”Marguerite” (McKenna) of Hull, September 6, 2008. The beloved wife of the late Colin C. Gillis. Devoted mother of Margaret L’Italien and Mary M. Gillis both of Hull and Jean O’Brien of Norton and the late Colin M. Gillis. Sister of Gerald McKenna of Saugus, Ethel Bulger of Quincy and Patricia Carlson of Wakefield and the late John P. McKenna. Grandmother of Eric, Michael & Paul L’Italien.Sister in law of James Gillis of Hull and loved by of many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors. Marguerite was born and raised in Malden. She moved to Hull back in the 1940’s. She raised her family in Hull. Mary worked as an operator for New England Telephone Company for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Union, member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and former member of the Ladies Sodality Club. She was active at the senior center in Hull and a member of the Hull Garden Club. Mary enjoyed playing bingo and played cards every Tuesday with the womens group. Mary was a gentle woman who was devoted to her family and a devout catholic. Mary was also very proud of her Irish heritage. She will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have had her in their lives. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.) Hingham Wednesday at 9am . Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull, Wednesday at 10am. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8pm. Burial in Hull Village Cemetery, Hull.
