Mary Louise Flanagan

Mary Louise Flanagan (D’Ambrosia) of Wesley Chapel, FL., formerly of Weymouth, MA, passed away peacefully January 2, 2024. She was 86 years old.

Born in Weymouth, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Carolyn (Gwozdz) D’Ambrosia. She attended school at Pratt Grade School (which she affectionally called Pratt Prison), the old Weymouth High School, and the Chandler School for Women. While working at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, MA as a secretary in the late 1950’s, she met and married Joseph V. Flanagan, Jr. They moved to Connecticut in 1970, where she completed her education at Middlesex Community College, consistently making the Dean’s List and graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA.  After Joe’s death in 1986, Mary Lou worked at Yale Law School for many years. She relocated to Florida in 2017.

During all of these years, she enjoyed bowling, gardening, playing piano, travel, and eating out with family and friends. Most of all, she loved her constant companions – her cats!

Beloved wife of the late Joseph V. Flanagan, Jr., sister of the late Raymond D’Ambrosia, Jr., mother of Terri and her husband John Benedict of Zephyrhills FL and Tom Flanagan and his wife Amber Waldref of Spokane, WA. Cherished grandmother of Heather Benedict, Joseph Benedict, Ashleigh Benedict, Karolina Flanagan-Waldref, and Nora Flanagan-Waldref.  She is also fondly remembered by many extended family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 1/11 from 10-12 AM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday 1/11 at 12 PM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rt. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital), Weymouth. Burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
