Mary L. Neiland, 94, of North Weymouth died on May 18th.
Born in Charlestown, she was the daughter of John and Mary O’Rourke. She was a graduate of Girls High. During World War II, Mary was employed by the welding department at the Charlestown Navy Yard. She volunteered with the GSO where she met her husband of 72 years, Ray, at a dance.
Her life’s work was her family and friends. A member of St. Jerome’s Parish since 1952, Mary volunteered for many years as a catechism teacher and extraordinary minister. She was a founding member of the Charismatic Prayer Group. She enjoyed a full, productive, and active retirement. Mary loved to walk at Webb Park, at Lowe’s, and along Nantasket Beach. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her trips to the library.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond and her grandson, James. She is survived by three sons, Raymond and his wife Michelle of Temecula, California; William and his long-time companion Dale Fulton of Stoneham; James of North Weymouth; and a daughter Ann of Middletown, NJ. Mary was blessed with three grandsons, three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, nieces, nephews, and many friends and neighbors.
