Mary L. Housman

Mary L. Housman of New Britain, CT died September 3, 2017.

Mary was born at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth and spent her early years in Braintree, living next door to her paternal grandfather. At age 8, she moved to Weymouth Heights into a house that her father built on Commercial Street and spent her childhood and most of her adult life there. She graduated from Weymouth High School in 1959, then attended Chamberlain School of Retail in Boston. She worked in retail for several years before beginning a career as an executive secretary in Cambridge, first at the Holiday Inn and lastly at the Harvard Summer School.

The highlight of her life was a 7 week trip to Europe with her brother, John, which she continued to talk about until her final days. After her mother’s death in 2009, she moved to CT to be near her brother and sister in law and their extended family. She resided at the Jerome Home in New Britain, CT until her death after a long battle with cancer. She thoroughly enjoyed holiday gatherings with her family and took great pleasure watching her grandnephews and grandniece grow.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Saturday from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth.
