Mary L. Ferson

Ferson, Mary “Manya” L.  ( Kleczek) of Milton, formerly of Dorchester died February 8, 2014.   Beloved wife of the late James R. Ferson. Loving mother of Kathleen MacKenzie and her husband Andrew of Abington, James Ferson and his wife Ellen of Sandwich, Debra Ferson of East Sandwich, John Ferson of Milton,  Joseph Ferson of Watertown and Robert Ferson of Bourne. Sister of Anna Shields of New York, Jennie Burns of Needham and the late Helen, Chester, Joseph, Frank and Walter Kleczek.  Cherished grandmother of Jessica Matney, James Eric Ferson, Tyler Ferson and Rebecca Ferson.

Manya was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester.  She was a graduate of Dorchester High School and later in life graduated with a bachelors degree in English from UMass Boston. In addition to raising her children, she worked for 20 years at the Boston Globe where she rose to the rank of circulation manager and was an active member of the Boston Globe Employees Association. She was past president of Altrusa International of Quincy and was an avid swimmer and member of the South Shore YMCA.  Manya enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening, recently designing a beautiful rock garden. Most of all Manya loved spending time with her family who were truly the cornerstone of her life.  For the last several years, she worked part-time at the Atria Assisted Living Center in Marina Bay,  Quincy. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:45 am prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, at 10:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
