Mary M. Kelly

Mary M. Kelly, a beloved matriarch and vibrant soul, passed away peacefully at her home on September 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born as Mary Bresnahan, she carried herself with a warmth and welcoming spirit that effortlessly filled the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Mary enjoyed her many years working as a waitress at numerous restaurants throughout the Boston area, including the renowned Anthony's Pier Four and the Red Coach Grill in Hingham. She also worked as a clerk at Weymouth Town Hall for a number of years and as an assembler at Electro Switch.

A woman of many passions and interests, Mary loved roller skating and was deeply involved in her community. As a cherished member of St. Jerome’s Church Choir, Massachusetts Chorale, and the CYO Choir, her voice brought joy to others. She also found fulfillment volunteering at the Weymouth Food Pantry and at Bingo nights at church. She was an active member of the Weymouth Senior Center.

Mary was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Weymouth Elks. In an adventurous twist, she even took to the skies for the first time at the age of 80, going skydiving—a testament to her fearless spirit and zest for life. Every Mother’s Day, she made cherished memories riding the Nantasket Carousel, aboard horse “Betty” #15B. The carousel has become a symbol of her loving legacy, marked by her personalized brick that reads “Mary Kelly, We Love You.”

Above all, Mary cherished her family. Her loving nature, warm hugs, and heartfelt laughter will be deeply missed by those she left behind. The legacy of her loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable life. Mary M. Kelly was not just a beloved relative or friend; she was a beacon of love and joy, whose memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who carry her in their hearts.
