Riley, Mary J. (Griffin) of Quincy, November 2, 2005. Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Riley. Loving mother of Carol A. and her husband Francis McKeown of Norwood, Jane F. and her husband Christopher Sissons of Abington and the late Donald J. Riley. Mother in law of Kathleen P. Riley of Quincy. Sister of the late Charles F. Griffin. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 nieces. Mrs. Riley is a devoted and longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish. She was one of, if not the oldest surviving member of her church. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club and Ladies Sodality at Sacred Heart. Mary worked at the United Way during the years of 1954 – 1974. She volunteered at the Long Island Hospital for several years. Mrs. Riley is a 1927 graduate of North Quincy High School. Mary loved to play cards and BINGO. She played Bridge with a close group of eight friends for over sixty years. She had that special ability of being able to “put pen to paper”. She wrote numerous letters and articles over the years and encouraged her children and grandchildren to do the same, many of which inherited her love of the english language. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, knitting and crocheting. Mrs. Riley was also a fabulous cook and a terrific piano player. Above all else she loved and cherished her family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the North Quincy Keohane Funeral Home 333 Hancock St., NORTH QUINCY Monday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visitation will be prior to Mass. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Mrs. Riley may be made to a charity of your choice.
