Stanton, Mary Helena of Quincy, died peacefully at home on July 6, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Originally from Dorchester, Mary graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School, Somerville Hospital School of Nursing and Mass College of Pharmacy. Much of her career was spent at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Her special fundraising project kept a steady supply of toys ready for children who were patients at Tufts. Mary loved her nursing career, encouraged and mentored young talent, and was always there to help friends and family. After retirement she continued to volunteer at Tufts. Mary would like to be remembered as someone who enjoyed her life, family, friends, laughter, music and caring about people.
Loving sister of Edward and his wife Mary, Stephen and his wife Janet of Quincy, Patricia and her husband George Clark of Weymouth, Thomas and his wife Louise of VA, and 14 nieces and nephews. Also survived by many caring friends. In passing, Mary joins her parents Flora and Edward Stanton.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be made to The Neely House, c/o The Cam Neely Foundation, 30 Winter Street, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02108.
