Mary G. Hurley

Mary G. (Burke) Hurley, of Hingham, died January 1, 2016. Mary was a woman of devout faith and was very active in Resurrection Parish. Over the years she served as a sacristan, Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher. She could often be found bringing communion to those unable to get to church, overseeing the Giving Tree during the Christmas season and helping in any way she could. Mary was a key member/coordinator of the Greater Boston food bank formally known as Share New England in the Hingham Community. She was awarded the Cheverus medal from the Archdiocese for her lay missionary work. In her early years Mary enjoyed crafts, cross stitch knitting and being a girl scout leader. She also had a special place in her heart for animals. She will be fondly remembered for her kindness and grace.

Beloved wife of over 50 years to James W. Hurley of Hingham. Devoted mother to Mary P. Hurley-Bea and her husband Richard Bea of Braintree, James Hurley and his husband Michael Ulisano of Seattle, WA, Katie Berube and her husband Daniel of Manchester, NH and David Hurley of Hingham. Cherished Grammie of Richard Bea, Jr. Loving sister of the late Walter and William Burke, Austin Burke and his widow Judi of Braintree. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  

Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10:30 AM. 

Burial will follow.

Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, Resurrection Parish, 1057 Main Street, Hingham Ma 02043 or Hull’s Sunset Point Camp, c/o Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston, 51 Sleeper Street, Boston, Ma 02210.
