Mary F. (Perkins) Hines of Abington, went home to God on January 24th, 2023. She was 83 years old.
Mary was born on August 12th, 1939, to Earl and Mary Perkins of Dorchester, Massachusetts. She was one of 13 children and leaves behind her only surviving sibling, George Perkins and his wife Betty, formerly of Rockland and now residing in Watertown. She was married to the late Paul Hines Sr. Though this relationship wasn’t permanent, they did have five children together and remained friends afterwards. Mary showed much strength and courage through this time as she juggled work and life as a single mother.
Mary lived a life devoted to assisting others. She worked as an assistant in the operating room at Carney Hospital in Boston before taking a job as a Nurses Aide at the VA Hospital in Brockton. After leaving the VA, she became an at-home Nurses Aide, where she assisted patients with end-of-life care. She also worked as an actress and wardrobe designer for Boombastic Films.
Mary’s favorite hobbies included sewing, painting, spending time with family, fellowshipping with her friends at church, having Tea Parties with her grandchildren, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and rebelliously snacking on bacon, fried chicken, and Chinese food. As the ultimate family woman, her favorite event was the annual Christmas Eve Party, where she could sit on the couch, enjoy the Christmas Tree, and be surrounded by loved ones.
Loving mother to Paul Hines Jr. and his wife Lynn of Abington, Theresa Berens and late husband Carl of East Bridgewater, James Hines and his wife Joan of Abington, Kathleen Fisher and her husband Jeff of Hanover, and Mary Beery and her husband Jeff of Abington. She is survived by her 15 grandchildren: Mathew, Carl, Jonathan, Danielle, Jennifer, Andrew, Joshua, James, Christopher, Adam, Jeffrey, Abigail, Thomas, Catherine, and Joseph. She will also be remembered by her 13 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Lealla, Averie, Natalia, Arthur, Evelyn, Christian, Sophia, Maysia, Jamie, Jameson, August, and Grayson.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday February 1, 2023 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rte 18 opp. So.
