Lehner, Mary Essex Osborn (“The Futz”), born October 31,1923 of Hingham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, surrounded by the family she cherished. She was the second daughter of the late Alice Corinne Malone, of Peewee Valley, KY, and the late Charles Marcus Osborn, of Chicago, IL. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Peter Lehner of Hingham and Cuttyhunk, MA and her children Heidi M. Lehner (Paul Milbury) of Boston, MA; Paul H. Lehner (Sara Ellis) of Spartanburg, SC and Cuttyhunk, MA; Karen A. Lehner of Sausilito, CA; Joseph J. Lehner of Stuart, FL ;and John O. Lehner (Dienna Armstrong) of Scituate, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Hans M. Sherman (Sarah Moreland) of Los Angeles, CA, Lauren E. Sherman of Boston, MA; Corinne L. Milbury of Boston, MA and Peter Ellis Lehner of Spartanburg, SC. Surviving sisters are Alice Rudolph of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Lillian Hanscom of Machias, ME. She was predeceased by her sister, Charlotta (“Charlie”) Michalek of Plymouth, MA. Mary was born in Hingham, attended Hingham and Watertown schools and graduated from Boston University. She served in the Navy during WWII as a Chief Corpsman. An avid and accomplished bridge player, she was a member of the Puritan Bridge Club in Weymouth as well as the Wompatuck Bridge Club in Hingham and was a LifeMaster of the American Contract Bridge League. The essence of her life was her family. She will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011, at the Second Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 685 Main St., Hingham. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 55 Fogg Road, Weymouth, MA 02190, or to The Salvation Army, 6 Baxter St., Quincy, MA 02169.
