Kane, Mary Elizabeth (Kane) of Hingham, died June 19, 2014 peacefully at her home in Hingham.

Mary was born, raised, and educated in S. Boston and graduated from Girls’ Latin School. She spent 40 years working for John Hancock Insurance in Boston and continued living in her hometown of S. Boston before moving to Weymouth, Rockand and finally Hingham. Mary was an avid sailor and competed at South Boston Yacht Club.  She loved flowers and enjoyed knitting, gifting many others with her fine work.  She will be remembered for her generosity and thoughtfulness.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved brother James Kane of S. Boston. Mary is survived by her loving cousins Denise DiCenso and her husband Robert of Cohasset, Robert Lally of San Diego, and Stephen Lally and his wife Mary of Hull. Mary is also survived by her long time friend Claire Rexford.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hour on Monday 9-10 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street) prior to the service in the Funeral Home at 10 AM. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.

Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Beacon Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Mary.
