Mary E. Swan

Swan, Mary E. (Bellew) age 90, of South Weymouth formerly of Dorchester, died Friday, December 25, 2020 with her loving daughter Beth and dear dog Soldier by her side.

Mary loved dogs, especially German Shepherds.  She loved to go walking with her late husband Tom of 60 years.  They could be seen walking with their German Shepherd dogs over the years at Castle Island in South Boston and Nantasket Beach in Hull.  Mary loved the ocean and all it’s majestic sites, smells and sounds of the surf.  Another favorite place of hers was Newfound Lake in Bristol, NH where she cherished the time spent with her family, relaxing, sun bathing and swimming.  Mary’s favorite exercise was swimming and she was a graceful swimmer.  She loved seeing sunsets, rainbows, formations in the clouds, especially heart and angel shaped and checking out the Moon and star gazing when out at night.  Mary had a love for music and would play her many record albums, especially Dear Martin, Perry Como, Jerry Vale and Connie Francis.  Mary enjoyed going to the Whipple Senior Center in Weymouth and listening to the talented retired musicians volunteer their time to play songs.  One of her main passions in life was her family and the holidays.  In her earlier years Mary worked as a Meter Maid in Boston but was mainly a Homemaker.  She liked playing Rummy 500, Solitaire, Scrabble and doing ceramics.  Mary was a member of the Woman’s bowling league at St. Peter’s in Dorchester from which she earned a few trophy’s.  Mary enjoyed food and loved to cater to her sweet tooth.  Mary will be remembered for her big smile, quick whit and passionate nature.  She will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Beloved wife of the late Thomas M. Swan.  Loving mother of  M.Beth Swan Brogna of Weymouth and the late Susan Swan.  Cherished grandmother of Kristin Jablonski, Nick Jablonski, Matt Jablonski all of Lakeville and the late Derek Brogna and the late Jason Brogna.  Daughter of the late Rae Cole (Ussher) and the late Alphonse Bellew.  Caring sister of the late Charles Bellew, the late Ellen Carlson, the late T.Walter Bellew and the late Virginia Nicholas.  Godmother of Virginia Carlson of Hingham and the late Stephen Carlson.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
