Mary E. Smith of Hanson was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away on May 10, 2024, at age 64.

She was born to Lucille “Chi Chi” and Joseph Dolan on April 6, 1960. Raised in Hull and Weymouth, Mary graduated from Weymouth High School. Soon after, she met her husband, Richard Smith, and lived in Whitman for many years raising their children. Mary dedicated her career to the insurance industry as an agent for Mason and Mason Insurance in Whitman and AE Barnes Insurance in Weymouth.

Mary’s favorite way to spend time was with family. She was an avid reader, enjoyed the beach, games, and family cookouts. She also loved get-togethers for Christmas and the holidays.

Mary is survived by her husband, Richard Smith of Hanson. She was a loving mother to Melissa Smith and her fiancé, James Plausse, of Middleboro, Rachel Conway and her husband, Michael, of Bolton, Ryan Smith and his wife, Haley, of Quincy, and the late Richard Smith Jr. She was a dear sister to Karen Dolan of Hanson, Matthew Dolan and his wife, Lauren, of Halifax, and the late Joseph and William “Bucky” Dolan. She was a cherished grandmother to Tyler, Reagan, Luca, Rivers, and the late Quinn. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral mass for Mary on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. In loving memory of Mary, please consider a donation to autism advocacy at autisticadvocacy.org.
