RAUX, Mary E. (O’Brien) of North Quincy, died February 20, 2014, at the age of 89.
Beloved wife of Eugene J. Raux. Daughter of the late John and Mary (McDonough) O’Brien. Sister of John O’Brien and his wife, Lorraine, and the late Jane C. O’Brien, Ellen T. O’Brien and Redmond O’Brien. Mother of Mary Ellen Raux, Rev Redmond Raux, Christine Putnam and her husband Stephen, and the late Eugene Raux and his wife Debra. Survived by ten grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.
Mary was born in Milton and graduated from North Quincy High School in 1942 and from Bridgewater State College in 1980. She was a children’s librarian at Thomas Crane Public Library for sixty years. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parish where she was a member of the Women’s Sodality, and she co-directed the Bingo game for half a century with her husband Eugene. She was also a Girl Scout leader and an avid reader and gardener.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday from 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9am Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, North Quincy at 10.
There will be a private interment.
Contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the Sacred Heart Church Fund. The family thanks all of her caregivers in her illness.
