Mary E. Higgins

Higgins, Mary Ellen (Greaney) of Braintree, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family August 14, 2014.

Beloved wife of the late Gerard F. Higgins. Loving mother of Edward Higgins and his wife Robin of TX, Elizabeth Fitzgerald and her husband Stephen of NH, Geraldine Gardner and her husband Timothy of Braintree and Kathleen D’Apice of Braintree.  Dear sister of Billy Greaney and his wife Joan of Derryloughane, Ireland, Paddy Joe Greaney and his wife Sally of Quincy, Eilish Concannon and her husband Pat of Barna, Ireland, Peggy Sheridan and her husband Tommy of Derryloughane, Ireland, and Kathleen Feeney and her husband Willie of Moycullen, Ireland. Cherished grandmother of Victoria and her husband Justin Scarborough, Megan and Colin Higgins, Caitlin and Caroline Gardner, Benjamin and Abigail Fitzgerald and Adam and Celia D’Apice.  She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Mary completed secondary school in Spiddal, Ireland and immigrated at 18 year of age, where she continued her education during evening classes at Harvard. Mary worked as a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company for over 20 years.  She spent many years caring for the children of the Eustis family as well as their Estate in Milton. Mary loved volunteering at the Irish Pastoral Center. She loved spending time with her family and friends and especially loved shopping at her favorite shops. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
