O’Neill, Mary D. (Stankewich) of South Boston, passed away October 8, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Joseph E. O’Neill. Loving mother of Margaret “Peggy” and her husband Tony Ywoskus of New Durham, New Hampshire and South Boston, Joseph M. O’Neill and his wife Patricia of Hanson, Mary C. Williams of South Boston and her late husband Michael Williams, Diane C. Morrissey and her husband Kevin of Randolph and Elaine Richmond and her husband Scott of Salem, NY. Sister of the late Sophie McDonough and Vera Morris. Cherished grandmother of Shauna McKenzie, Amy Prostran, Joseph M. O’Neill, Michael Morrissey, Daniel Morrissey, Christine Morrissey. Great-grandmother of Nicholas and Jamie Mackenzie, Maxwell and Luka Prostran and Lana Morrissey. Aunt of Ronnie Mackay, Patricia O’Brien, Jean Regan, Maureen Vadaro, Tom McDonough, Joseph Regan and the late Jimmy Morris. Mary is aslo lovingly survived by a loving and skillful staff at Marian Manor who were considered second family. Mary was born in the South End of Boston, the youngest daughter of Ignatius and Vera (Shelling) Stankewich. She moved to South Boston after marrying Joseph E. O’Neill were they raised their 5 children. She was employed by the US Census Bureau where she met many dear friends, she worked for 15 years before retiring in 1990. She loved books, crossword puzzles, flowers and traveling. Hawaii, Arizona, California, Germany, Scotland and Majogori were some of her favorite trips. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Gate of Heaven, South Boston, at 10 AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
